The increasingly visible sedentarism in the children of our current society is a problem that has been worrying the Childhood Educators. Taking into account the advancement of technology and the fact that children in today's activity rooms are considered as Digital Natives, we intend to introduce the Nintendo Wii® into the motor activities developed by children in order to verify their contribution to children's motor skills. To this end, the objectives of this study focused on the promotion of digital resources in activities related to motor expression; the analysis of the effect of the practice of motor activities performed with Nintendo Wii® and the identification of changes in children's motor development, namely in the analyzed variables, balance, laterality, body notion and global praxia, resulting from practice in the environment virtual. The present investigation was developed in the Supervised Practice in Pre-School Education, in a group of children between the ages of 4 and 5 years. In this investigation the qualitative and quantitative paradigm was combined. A mixed qualitative approach was also developed, combining action research and exploratory case study, due to the uniqueness of the study. For the collection of data, several instruments and techniques were used: participant observation, field notes, audiovisual media, BPM, semistructured interview and questionnaire surveys. The implementation was developed in seven sessions, in which the children of the experimental group used the Nintendo Wii® and its accessories (Wii Remote and Balance Board). After the due analysis of all the collected data, we can conclude that the Nintendo Wii® contributes significantly in the children's motricity, that is, in the improvement of motor skills. It is noteworthy that the accomplishment of motor activities with the Nintendo Wii® generated in the children spontaneous collaborative spirit; healthy competition, because what mattered was the accomplishment of motor activities and not exactly the gain of points, and the punctuation emerged as a motivating element in terms of people, giving rise to greater feelings of selfesteem.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

BACKGROUND: Studies that addressed social and economic determinants of cardiovascular diseases, consistently showed an increase prevalence of the individual features of metabolic syndrome in the lower socio-economic strata. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the association between social class and metabolic syndrome in a sample of urban middle-aged and old Portuguese adults. METHODS: We evaluated 1962 subjects (1207 women and 755 men) aged 40 or more years. Marital status, education, occupation, menarche age and height distribution were used as socioeconomic indicators. Metabolic syndrome was defined according to the ATP III, by the presence of at least three of the following characteristics: waist circumference > 102 cm in men and > 88 cm in women; triglycerides > or = 150 mg/dl; HDL cholesterol or = 130/85 mm Hg; and fasting glucose > or = 110 mg/dl. Proportions were compared using the chi square test or Fisher's exact test. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) were computed using unconditional logistic regression to estimate the magnitude of the associations. RESULTS: Metabolic syndrome was significantly more frequent in females (24.9 vs. 17.4, p < 0.001). In females, the odds favoring metabolic syndrome significantly increased with age and in unfavorable social class as described by occupation, and decreased with education level. In males, metabolic syndrome was significantly more frequent in the 60-69 years age class (OR = 1.82; 95%CI: 1.02-3.26) when compared to those in the 40-49 years age class. Concerning other socioeconomic indicators no significant associations were found. CONCLUSION: This study showed that gender influenced the association of socio-economic status indicators with metabolic syndrome. Females in lower social classes, as defined by education and occupational classification, more frequently presented metabolic syndrome, no such association was found in males

    Semi-supervised active learning anomaly detection

Mestrado Bolonha em Data Analytics for BusinessThe analysis of Time Series data is a growing field of study due to the increase in the rate of data collection from the most varied sensors that lead to an overload of information to be analysed in order to obtain the most accurate conclusions possible. Hence, due to the high volume of data without labels, automatized detection and labelling of anomalies in Time Series data is an active area of research, as it becomes impossible to manually identify abnormal behavior in Time Series because of the high time and monetary costs. This research focus on the investigation of the power of a Semi Supervised Active Learning algorithm to identify outlier-type anomalies in univariate Time Series. To maximize the performance of the algorithm, we start by proposing an initial pool of features from which the ones with best classification power are selected to develop the algorithm. Regarding the Semi Supervised Learning segment of the process a comparison between several classifiers is made. In addition, various Query Strategies are proposed in the Active Learning segment to increase the informativeness of the observations chosen to be manually labelled so that the time spent labelling anomalies could be decreased without a great impact in the performance of the model. In a first instance, we demonstrate that the pool of designed features better identifies the anomalies than features selected in a fully automatized process. Furthermore, we demonstrate that a Query Strategy used to select the most informative observations to be expertly classified based on the utility and uncertainty of the observations exhibit better results than randomly selecting the observations to be tagged, improving the performance of the model without infeasible time and cost spent in the identification of the anomalous behavior.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Concerned with the increase in hunger worldwide as well as unemployment and the lack of equity in the distribution of income the United Nations began to address genuinely Latin American scientific categories in its agendas assemblies and task forces The two main categories are Family Farming with the recent establishment of the Family Farming decade 2019-2028 and the Social and Solidarity Economy as a tool for transposing the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs in the Territories Together these categories can be responsible for achieving the SDGs in 78 of the world s territory There is a need however to clarify whether the science produced in Latin America also presents trends of intersection in the search for the theoretical construction of a new paradigm of production and consumption In this sense the objective of this study was to identify trends in scientific production on the categories Family Farming and Social and Solidarity Economy An adaptation of the PRISMA method was developed as a systematic literature review to identify these trends in the scientific field in Latin America After executing the PRISMA method we arrived at 244 articles from Family Farming and 56 articles from the Social and Solidarity Economy between 2016 and 2020 categorized into Areas of Study and Knowledge Macrocategories and Microcategories There are consolidated trends in the intersection between Family Farming and the Social and Solidarity Economy in productions on Productive Inclusion Sustainable Development and Sustainability Indicators and with evident growth in the areas of productions on Food Security mainly in the Organic Foods and Agroecology microcategories and productions on Public Policies in microcategories such as the National School Feeding Program Social Transformations and Social Technologies We conclude that the relationship between Social and Solidarity Economy and Family Farming is reciprocal in terms of granting cohesion to the scientific production network extrapolating the borders of Brazil and integrating not only Latin America but also Iberoamerica as a path to the expansion of both the categorie
